Jane From Jane The Virgin

If you are into content that is cheesy yet relevant and fun, then try giving Telenovelas a shot. And while I’m at it I’d say try watching ‘Jane the virgin’. While being sappy, full of light and dramatic at times, it is like watching your beliefs getting restored, of good over evil, of love that finds its way in the end. It is like falling from your world of pastels to another dimension of Bright Pinks and Blues, of Dreams and Musicals, of Unicorns which are just little horses with a fake horn!

With so many relevant characters and so much to the plot, it will take more than many posts to make some sense, and I will try, This is one of the many. This is about Jane. Jane, who’s a smart, determined woman who loves her label-maker and lists.

It is difficult to be or atleast imagine being a realist who’s also a hopeless romantic, yes, it’s almost ironic, the two of them together. But, the protagonist is somewhat that. She has to see-saw between being a practical (person) with a life, which is oh so dramatic (trust me, there’re murders and crime lords involved)! And, a writer who struggles to put together the reality with a touch of fiction, well, more than just a touch.

When her roadmap to life gets a few bumps, she tries to choose the right, almost all the time. Something that good would do. Jane is judgy, which is frowned upon at times but ends up being the moral compass, towards the end of the show. But with her life being a plot of some telenovela and the decisions she makes, she has it full. With the little things like the grilled cheese that she likes, the fireflies that she wishes upon. And the big things like the family that supports, the best friend who stays and the love that is almost like a fairytale.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Jane is a wholesome character, in the sense that she tries to be more than just one personality that is supposed to stick (for a numbered seasons). There’s so much to Jane, her life and the Telenovela.

But more on that later...
